Ultra-low field frequency-swept electrically detected magnetic resonance

چکیده

We have developed a new ultra-low field frequency-swept (FS) electrically detected magnetic resonance (EDMR) spectrometer to perform sensitive EDMR measurements of 4H-silicon carbide (SiC) metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors at sub-millitesla (mT) fields. The design enables the detection so-called ultra-strong coupling effects such as multiple-photon transitions and Bloch–Siegert shifts. In this paper, we present discuss FS-EDMR sensitivity both multiphoton shifts response. effectively eliminates interference sub-mT response from near-zero magnetoresistance (NZFMR) phenomenon that pervades regime in field-swept scheme. an automatic power leveling scheme, which frequency sweeping. also results illustrating shift Finally, study two-photon transition line shape 4H-SiC transistor function static field, observe collapse linewidth with decreasing compare our theory absorption EDMR.

Electrically detected magnetic resonance using radio-frequency reflectometry.

The authors demonstrate readout of electrically detected magnetic resonance at radio frequencies by means of a LCR tank circuit. Applied to a silicon field-effect transistor at millikelvin temperatures, this method shows a 25-fold increased signal-to-noise ratio of the conduction band electron spin resonance and a higher operational bandwidth of >300 kHz compared to the kilohertz bandwidth of c...

Spin-locking in low-frequency reaction yield detected magnetic resonance.

The purported effects of weak magnetic fields on various biological systems from animal magnetoreception to human health have generated widespread interest and sparked much controversy in the past decade. To date the only well established mechanism by which the rates and yields of chemical reactions are known to be influenced by magnetic fields is the radical pair mechanism, based on the spin-d...

Lock-in detection for pulsed electrically detected magnetic resonance.

We show that in pulsed electrically detected magnetic resonance (pEDMR) signal modulation in combination with a lock-in detection scheme can reduce the low-frequency noise level by one order of magnitude and in addition removes the microwave-induced non-resonant background. This is exemplarily demonstrated for spin-echo measurements in phosphorus-doped silicon. The modulation of the signal is a...

Electrically detected magnetic resonance in a W-band microwave cavity.

We describe a low-temperature sample probe for the electrical detection of magnetic resonance in a resonant W-band (94  GHz) microwave cavity. The advantages of this approach are demonstrated by experiments on silicon field-effect transistors. A comparison with conventional low-frequency measurements at X-band (9.7  GHz) on the same devices reveals an up to 100-fold enhancement of the signal in...

Ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging

Understanding human brain function, brain development and brain dysfunction is one of the great challenges of the twentyfirst century. Biomedical imaging has now run up against a number of technical constraints that are exposing limits to its potential. In order to overcome the current limits to high-field magnetic resonance cerebral imaging (MRI) and unleash its fullest potential, the CEA has ...
